spent some time zipping around the Web looking for some interesting links
related to the JET Program and Japan. This barely scratches the surface,
but I hope you'll take some time out to see where they take you!
- The
Official JET Program Home Page is maintained by the Japan Exchange
& Teaching Alumni Association and has excellent information and
links for prospective JET participants, alumni, and anyone just curious
to know more about Japan. (It even has a link to this site!)
- CLAIR Homepage: CLAIR is the
name of the umbrella organization which actually administers the JET
Program. This site offers links with various governmental links, and
an English search engine for cultural, tourist, and other links
- Japanese
Engrish offers up lots of fun with the Japanese version of the English
language -- "Engrish"! See some interesting ways Engrish is
interpreted for products, signs, and more.
- Tokyo
Disneyland offers an English site for those Mouse-aholics who can't
get enough of him in America & Europe.
- Asahi
Shimbun offers up the latest English language news on events &
people around Japan and Asia.
- Nikkei
Weekly has the best Asian business news, with a Japanese focus.
(I had a subscription to this paper when I was in Japan and really liked
it.)
- The
JETAA Internet Job-Hunting Guide is one of the best places on the
Internet to start your search for a job. Period. An ex-JET named Linda
Chenoweth has done an incredible job of putting together one of the
most comprehensive job-hunting resources sites, including regional career
& job links (both within the US and around the world), guides (for
interviews, resume writing, etc.), business directories, links to the
career & employment listings most search engines run, graduate school
guides, and much, much more.
- Ohayo
Sensei is a bi-weekly newsletter of English teaching jobs in Japan.
- Asia
Net has excellent job listings for professionals who speak Japanese,
Chinese, Korean and English.
