JET- & Japan-Related Links

I've spent some time zipping around the Web looking for some interesting links related to the JET Program and Japan. This barely scratches the surface, but I hope you'll take some time out to see where they take you!

JET Program Links

  • The Official JET Program Home Page is maintained by the Japan Exchange & Teaching Alumni Association and has excellent information and links for prospective JET participants, alumni, and anyone just curious to know more about Japan. (It even has a link to this site!)
  • CLAIR Homepage: CLAIR is the name of the umbrella organization which actually administers the JET Program. This site offers links with various governmental links, and an English search engine for cultural, tourist, and other links

Japanese Pop Culture

  • Japanese Engrish offers up lots of fun with the Japanese version of the English language -- "Engrish"! See some interesting ways Engrish is interpreted for products, signs, and more.
  • Tokyo Disneyland offers an English site for those Mouse-aholics who can't get enough of him in America & Europe.

Japanese News Links

  • Asahi Shimbun offers up the latest English language news on events & people around Japan and Asia.
  • Nikkei Weekly has the best Asian business news, with a Japanese focus. (I had a subscription to this paper when I was in Japan and really liked it.)

Employment in Japan/Asia

  • The JETAA Internet Job-Hunting Guide is one of the best places on the Internet to start your search for a job. Period. An ex-JET named Linda Chenoweth has done an incredible job of putting together one of the most comprehensive job-hunting resources sites, including regional career & job links (both within the US and around the world), guides (for interviews, resume writing, etc.), business directories, links to the career & employment listings most search engines run, graduate school guides, and much, much more.
  • Ohayo Sensei is a bi-weekly newsletter of English teaching jobs in Japan.
  • Asia Net has excellent job listings for professionals who speak Japanese, Chinese, Korean and English.
