Electronic Commerce
As a semester project in SI 555 Electronic Commerce, our professor, Marshall Van Alstyne, asked us to do one of two types of projects incorporating sound electronic commerce principles and theory from class. We could either write a business plan for a new company, or design and implement an online tutorial. Both my partner, Dan Bree, and I were interested in learning more about electronic commerce opportunities in the emerging economies of Latin America. So we decided to modify Marshall's first choice and evaluate an actual business plan instead of write one. Through one of Dan's amazing connections, we contacted a company based in Washington, DC, and asked if we could work with them. The company we'll call ElectroMarket, Inc., generously offered to share their actual business plan document and a few supporting documents. In exchange, Dan and I offered to also survey electronic commerce potential in the four countries ElectroMarket was thinking of expanding into first. This course project document would be fairly long on the same web page so I've divided it into six parts, including a table from our final paper's appendix and a list of electronic commerce links. The index to this document appears at the bottom of every page. Please click on a link to learn more about our project.
