he annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the International
Monetary Fund are a grand event. Finance ministers from member countries,
international financiers, investors, and all sorts of other Very
Important People gather from around the world to hobnob, schmooze,
and do whatever else they're supposed to do while staying in a luxury
hotel for a week.
he 1998
annual meetings are in the first week of October. Many divisions
of both organizations set up information booths to impress the visitors
with their work. The Information Solutions Group where I worked
decided to hand out mouse pads as a little momento to those who
stopped by their booth this year. So they asked the intern -- me
-- to design it for them. Rough estimate of mouse pads to distribute:
2,000. The pressure!
designed
5 different ones. The one that most people liked was the one that
our professional graphic designer (who's also designing the intranet
site for ISG) sketched on a napkin when I was telling her about
the project. Patricia
Hord is extremely talented -- stop by her site and take a look.
